There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Handlova (8-9) lost at home to seventh ranked Karlovka (7-10) 89-73 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Karlovka made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Lukaas Hoferica nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Miroslav Zilik (197-89) accounted for 20 points and 4 steals. Serbian guard Krsto Bjelica (192-88) came up with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian swingman Luka Drezga (196-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 16 points respectively for Handlova in the defeat. Five Karlovka and four Handlova players scored in double figures. Karlovka moved-up to sixth place. Loser Handlova keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Karlovka will meet at home league's second-placed Inter Bratislava in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against Nitra in Nitra and hope to secure a win.
