Regular Season Round 11: AZS AWF K-ce - MKS DG 2 109-87

There was no surprise in Katowice where 9th ranked MKS DG 2 (3-7) was crushed by first ranked AZS AWF K-ce (9-1) 109-87 on Saturday. The game without a history. AZS AWF K-ce led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 66.7 percent from the field. AZS AWF K-ce outrebounded MKS DG 2 38-18 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 70.0 percentage. AZS AWF K-ce looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Mariusz Piotrkowski (198-84) who scored 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Kamil Nowak (197-88) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Center Piotr Zielinski (200-83) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and Bartosz Wrobel (190-95) added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for AZS AWF K-ce. They maintain first place with 9-1 record, which they share with Nysa Klodzko and Gornik. Newly promoted MKS DG 2 dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. AZS AWF K-ce will face Polonia Bytom (#5) at home in the next round. MKS DG 2 will play against the league's second-placed Alba Chorzow and hope to win that game.
