Regular Season Round 9: PAOK - Ippokratis 59-57

The most exciting game of round 9 in the A1 took place in Thessaloniki. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Ippokratis (4-6) to fourth ranked PAOK (7-3) 59-57 in the game for the fourth place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ippokratis won fourth quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri, agency: Gamble Sports Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and swingman Stavroula Spanidou (179-84) chipped in 11 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds and guard Xenia Helioti (170-83) scored 12 points and 4 assists. PAOK have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-3 record. Ippokratis at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Anagenisi and Terpsithea. PAOK are looking forward to face Olympiakos (#9) in Athens in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ippokratis will play on the road against AE Ellinikou (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
