We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Zwolle (7-3) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Groningen (6-4) 84-73 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 48-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Lance Jeter (190-88, college: Nebraska) who scored 24 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard DeJuan Wright (190-88, college: FIU, agency: Court Side) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. Canadian forward Tyson Hinz (201-91) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and guard Valentijn Lietmeijer (191-91) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. The victory was the third consecutive win for Groningen. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 6-4 record. Loser Zwolle keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Groningen will meet higher ranked Den Helder (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zwolle will play against the league's leader Den Bosch and hope to secure a win.
