Regular Season Round 13: Shanxi Zh. - Beijing Ducks 112-97

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Beijing Ducks (11-2) against seventh ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (8-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Beijing Ducks were defeated by Shanxi Zhongyu in Taiyuan 112-97. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Beijing Ducks. The game was mostly controlled by Shanxi Zhongyu. Beijing Ducks was better in second period 31-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanxi Zhongyu dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Beijing Ducks' 48. They outrebounded Beijing Ducks 53-29 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Jeremy Tyler (208-91, college: Louisville) contributed with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 23 points and power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) added 23 points in the effort for Beijing Ducks. Five Shanxi Zhongyu and four Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. Beijing Ducks' coach LuLei Min rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Beijing Ducks keep the second position with two games lost. They share it with Guangsha L.. Shanxi Zhongyu will play against Jilin Tigers (#6) in Changchun in the next round. Beijing Ducks will play on the road against Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) in Urumqi and hope to get back on the winning track.
