There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Shimane Magic (2-16) defeated on the road higher ranked Niigata Albirex (9-9) 88-83 on Sunday. Shimane Magic shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a good game for forward Isiah Brown (203-89, college: E.Tenn.St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Two Points) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Five Shimane Magic and four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex's coach Fujitaka Hiraoka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane Magic maintains tenth position with 2-16 record. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Shimane Magic will face higher ranked Aomori Watts (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
