Regular Season Round 14: Chiba Jets - Hitachi SR 60-70

NBL top team - Hitachi Sunrockers (15-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Chiba Jets (7-9) 70-60. It looked good early as Chiba Jets took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hitachi Sunrockers took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. Hitachi Sunrockers outrebounded Chiba Jets 51-29 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. The former international point guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Michael Olson used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Kosuke Ishii added 14 points in the effort for Chiba Jets. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-1 record. Chiba Jets lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with nine games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Tochigi Brex at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chiba Jets will play against Tsukuba R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
