Regular Season Round 10: Alghero - Genova 46-82
Date: November 30, 2014
Very predictable result when third ranked Genova (5-1) rolled over on the road bottom-ranked Alghero (0-7) 82-46 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 19-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-46. Genova dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a very good performance for swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Sara De Scalzi (176-83) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian power forward Erica Sanchez (182-76) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds and Israeli forward Delia Gagliano (180-97) added 10 points and 4 steals in the effort for Alghero. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Genova maintains third position in A2 with 5-1 record having 3 victories less than leader Ferrara. Loser Alghero still closes the standings with seven games lost. Genova will face Carugate (#6) in Corugate in the next round. Alghero will play on the road against the league's leader San Giovanni in Sesto San Giovanni and hopes to get finally their first victory.
