Very expected game when 14th ranked Trieste (1-9) was smashed at home by fifth ranked Venezia (7-3) 91-54 on Sunday. The game without a history. Venezia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Trieste's 34. Venezia forced 19 Trieste turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Slovakian center Marie Ruzickova (189-86, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Francesca Melchiori (175-93) contributed with 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Venezia's coach Andrea Liberalotto felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hungarian forward Anna Vida (185-85, agency: Interperformances) replied with 23 points and 5 steals and American guard Donica Cosby (172-88, college: Oklahoma City, agency: Two Points) added 14 points in the effort for Trieste. Venezia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Umbertide. Trieste lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Venezia will face league's leader Ragusa at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Trieste will play against La Spezia (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
