Regular Season Round 10: Carugate - San Giovanni 51-70

Serie A2 top team - San Giovanni (7-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Carugate (2-6) in Corugate 70-51. The game without a history. San Giovanni led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Carugate's 26. San Giovanni forced 19 Carugate turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Maria Laterza (191-89, college: Marist, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. Maria Barberis (178-95) contributed with 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Claudia Giunzioni (175-89) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Michela Frantini (175-83) added 15 points in the effort for Carugate. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Giovanni maintains first position in A2 with 7-1 record. Newly promoted Carugate keeps the sixth place with six games lost. San Giovanni will face Alghero (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Carugate will play against Genova and hope to win that game.
