Round 7 in WNBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Melbourne where host Bulleen Boomers (5-5) beat league's leader Sydney Uni Flames (6-3) 83-77 on Sunday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. International guard Rebecca Allen (185-92) fired 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Laurie Koehn (173-82, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 20 points. International point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists and guard Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bulleen Boomers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Sydney Uni Flames at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Bendigo S.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Townsville F.. Sydney Uni Flames will play next round against strong Bendigo Spirit trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Bulleen Boomers will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Canberra Capitals on the road.
