Regular Season Round 9: Lyon - Tarbes 50-82
Date: November 30, 2014
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Tarbes (6-3) crushed on the road 10th ranked Lyon (3-6) 82-50 on Sunday. The game without a history. Tarbes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lyon to just 7 points in second quarter. Tarbes held Lyon to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 56.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Tarbes had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Lyon's players. It was a good game for American center Alicia DeVaughn (193-91, college: Maryland, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Guard Sylvie Gruszczynski (173-86, agency: Comsport) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Tarbes players scored in double figures. International guard Melanie Plust (173-89) answered with 23 points and Swedish forward Danielle Hamilton-Carter (190-90, college: Georgia Tech) added 4 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Lyon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tarbes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Arras. Loser Lyon keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Tarbes will face Toulouse (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lyon will play against the league's second-placed Basket Landes in Mont de Marsan and hope to win that game.
