Regular Season Round 18: Toyama Grouses - Oita H.Devils 74-62

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Oita Heat Devils (6-10) lost on the road to third ranked Toyama Grouses (14-4) 74-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyama Grouses. Oita Heat Devils was better in fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Panamanian forward Jamelle Horne (200-88, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) contributed with 8 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American forward Kellen Thornton (201-88, college: Tennessee St., agency: David Lee services) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and guard Hiroki Oshiro (172-88) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Oita Heat Devils. Five Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Toyama Grouses have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Akita NH. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Shinshu BW (#8) in Nagano in the next round where they are favorite. Oita Heat Devils will play at home against the league's leader Kyoto Hannar. and hope to win that game.
