Regular Season Round 7: Mahram - Azad 70-77

Mahram (6-1) recorded its first loss in Tehran. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Azad (5-1) 77-70. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Mahram. It looked good early as Mahram took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Azad had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Mahram was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-77. Mahram was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Hamed Hosseinzadeh (187-87) who led the winners and scored 23 points. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93) came up with 7 points and 15 rebounds and the former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) added 16 points respectively for Mahram in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azad maintains third place with 5-1 record behind leader Petrochimi. Mahram at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. Azad will play against league's leader Petrochimi in Bandar Imam in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mahram will have a break next round.
