There was no surprise when 6th ranked Trieste (5-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Manital Torino (7-3) 94-82. The game was mostly controlled by Manital Torino. Trieste was better in third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Trieste 36-22 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Manital Torino players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Trieste helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St.) notched 23 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international power forward Tommaso Fantoni (204-85, agency: Players Group) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds by Francesco Candussi (211-94) did not help to save the game for Trieste. The former international point guard Marco Carra (185-80) added 16 points and 5 assists for lost side. Five Manital Torino and four Trieste players scored in double figures. Manital Torino have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with C.de Latte BRE. Trieste at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Manital Torino's next round opponent will be Agrigento (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Trieste will play against Casalpusterlengo (#14) and hope to win that game.
