Regular Season Round 12: Grindavik - KR 80-60

There was no surprise when 8th ranked KR (1-10) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Grindavik (6-4) 80-60 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Grindavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Grindavik forced 22 KR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Rachel Tecca (185, college: Akron, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Maria Ben Erlingsdottir (187-88, college: UTPA, agency: Promotex) who added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Grindavik players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Simone Holmes with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Holton Tomasdottir Bergthora scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grindavik have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 6-4 record. KR lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. They share the position with Breidablik. Grindavik will meet league's leader Snaefell in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. KR will play against Hamar (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
