Date: December 4, 2014
Very predictable result when seventh ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (10-5) smashed at home bottom-ranked Gansos (4-16) 101-73 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Gansos managed to win fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones UV Xalapa made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Adrian Henning (203-82, college: Austin Peay St.) fired 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import swingman Antoine Wright (201-84, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach Jose Martinez felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and Garduno Abraham added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa moved-up to third place, which they share with Pioneros. Loser Gansos stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will again meet at home bottom-ranked Gansos (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gansos will have a break next round.
