Not a big story in a game in Zacatecas where 13th ranked Barreteros (4-13) were defeated by eighth ranked Abejas (9-9) 89-75 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Abejas. Barreteros managed to win fourth quarter 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Abejas players scored in double figures. American center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and point guard Pablo Gonzalez (185-84) added 8 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Abejas. They maintain eighth place with 9-9 record. Barreteros lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Abejas will meet Panteras (#10) in the next round. Barreteros will play against Titanicos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
