Regular Season Round 15: Toshiba BT - Mitsubishi DD 90-75

There was a minor upset in Kanagawa where second-best Mitsubishi Dolphins (11-5) were defeated by second ranked Toshiba Thunders (10-6) 90-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Mitsubishi Dolphins was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi Dolphins' 24. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 33-22 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) chipped in 13 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. Despite that victory Toshiba Thunders went down to fourth position due to points difference. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the second place with five games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's leader Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play at home against Hyogo S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
