A very close game took place in Jinan between Shanxi Zhongyu and Shandong Bulls. Sixth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (10-5) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Shandong Bulls (8-7). Shanxi Zhongyu managed to escape with a 3-point win 104-101 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) who scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Center PengFei Yan (207-93) chipped in 27 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) who recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Five Shandong Bulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shanxi Zhongyu. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Xinjiang FT. Loser Shandong Bulls keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will meet Qingdao Eagles (#7) on the road in the next round. Shandong Bulls will play against Xinjiang Flying Tige and hope to secure a win.
