Regular Season Round 8: Hottur - Thor AK 90-69

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hottur as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hottur smashed bottom-ranked Thor AK in Egilsstadir 90-69. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. Thor AK managed to win second period 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hottur dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Thor AK's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Hreinn Birgisson (190-89) who added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hottur's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Vic Ian Damasin (179-92) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Hottur have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Thor AK at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Thor AK will play next round against IA trying to get back on the winning streak. Hottur will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked KFI in Isafjordur.
