Regular Season Round 19: Shimane SM - Aomori Watts 70-60

An interesting game took place in Shimane where higher ranked Aomori Watts (10-9) were upseton the court of tenth ranked Shimane Magic (3-16) 70-60. The game was mostly controlled by Shimane Magic. Aomori Watts was better in third quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Aomori Watts outrebounded Shimane Magic 48-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) added 16 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Aomori Watts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Shimane Magic maintains tenth place with 3-16 record. Aomori Watts at the other side keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Shimane Magic's next round opponent will be again higher ranked Aomori Watts (#5) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
