Regular Season Round 19: Shinshu BW - Toyama Grouses 87-72

The game between third ranked Toyama Grouses (14-5) and eighth ranked Shinshu BW (6-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Toyama Grouses were defeated by Shinshu BW in Nagano 87-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!). His fellow American import forward Carl Hall (203-89, college: Wichita St.) helped adding 14 points and 11 rebounds. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and guard Mito Takeshi (184-85) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW moved-up to seventh place. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Shinshu BW are again looking forward to face higher ranked Toyama Grouses (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyama Grouses will have a break next round.
