Regular Season Round 15: Kumamoto V. - Hyogo S. 81-79

A very close game took place in Kumamoto between Kumamoto V. and Hyogo S.. Sixth ranked Kumamoto V. (1-13) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Hyogo S. (7-9). Kumamoto V. managed to escape with a 2-point win 81-79 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 21-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Hyogo S. outrebounded Kumamoto V. 40-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American swingman Garlon Green (201-91, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points. Point guard Kento Matsuzaki (178-88) helped adding 14 points and 8 assists. Kumamoto V.'s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) scored 21 points. Kumamoto V. maintains sixth place with 1-13 record. Loser Hyogo S. keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Kumamoto V. will meet at home league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hyogo S. will play against the league's second-placed Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
