There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked STB Le Havre (5-6) won against on the road 3rd placed Gravelines-Dunkerque (7-4) 78-69 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But Gravelines-Dunkerque won second period 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. STB Le Havre dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gravelines-Dunkerque's 32. They outrebounded Gravelines-Dunkerque 42-26 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when STB Le Havre made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for naturalized American swingman Nicholas Pope (196-84, college: Oklah.Baptist) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Vincentian center Shawn King (208-82, college: ORU) helped adding 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks. Five STB Le Havre players scored in double figures. American center Graham Brown (205-84, college: Michigan) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Andrew Albicy (178-90) scored 16 points and 5 assists. STB Le Havre moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Gravelines-Dunkerque dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. STB Le Havre will face Paris-Levallois (#10) at home in the next round. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#11) and hope to win that game.
