Regular Season Round 11: Strasbourg - Bourg 76-63
Date: December 6, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked JL Bourg (2-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Strasbourg IG (10-1) 76-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Strasbourg IG. JL Bourg was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strasbourg IG looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points. American Matt Howard (203-89, college: Butler) helped adding 8 points and 6 rebounds. American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Steven Smith (203-83, college: La Salle) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Strasbourg IG. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Limoges. JL Bourg lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth place with nine games lost. Strasbourg IG will face Chalon/Saor (#5) on the road in the next round. JL Bourg will play against Cholet Basket (#9) and hope to win that game.
