No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Karlovka (8-11) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Nitra (2-17) 92-79. The game was mostly controlled by Karlovka. Nitra was better in second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karlovka shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Nitra only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Nitra 39-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Nitra was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Lukaas Hoferica who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Miroslav Zilik (197-89) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Justin Ward (203-91, college: Lakeland) answered with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and international Roman Vido (204-88) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Nitra. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Karlovka moved-up to sixth place. Nitra at the other side stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Karlovka will play against higher ranked Iskra Svit (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nitra will play against Nova Ves (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
