There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Gipuzkoa (3-7) won against higher ranked Bilbao Basket (7-3) in San Sebastian 80-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa. Bilbao Basket was better in third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quite impressive performance for American guard Taquan Dean (193-83, college: Louisville, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. The other American import point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) contributed with 15 points and 7 assists for the winners. Montenegrin forward Marko Todorovic (209-92) replied with 12 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Joaquim Colom (188-88, college: Forca Lleida, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points in the effort for Bilbao Basket. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gipuzkoa moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bilbao Basket keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked FIATC Joventut (#5) in Badalona in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bilbao Basket will play at home against the league's leader Real Madrid having rather not much hope for a victory.
