Very predictable result when third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (14-3) defeated on the road 9th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (4-15) 74-65. It looked good early as Fukuoka Rizing took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hamamatsu Phoenix had a 24-15 second period charge getting the lead and Fukuoka Rizing was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-74. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 22 Fukuoka Rizing turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Mo Charlo (203-83, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Tomoya Higashino allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) answered with 21 points (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import power forward Kirk Van Slyke (208-89, college: Arkansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fukuoka Rizing. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hamamatsu Phoenix. They maintain third place with 14-3 record having six points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Fukuoka Rizing lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play again at home against Hamamatsu Phoenix (#3) and hope to win that game.
