No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked MKK Siedlce (3-7) defeated at home 11th ranked Gdynia (1-9) 79-73 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-21. But Gdynia won third quarter 20-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MKK Siedlce made 30-of-33 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game, while Gdynia only scored nine points from the stripe. Strangely Gdynia outrebounded MKK Siedlce 55-30 including a 26-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gdynia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Ukrainian forward Ganna Zarytska (182-86) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Eureka Brooks (170-86, college: Florida, agency: Merit Management Group) chipped in 23 points and 4 steals. Ukrainian forward Katerina Dorogobuzova (190-90) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Angelika Stankiewicz (170-95, agency: Promotex) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted MKK Siedlce maintains ninth position with 3-7 record, which they share with Widzew. Gdynia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. MKK Siedlce will face higher ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#3) in Gorzow Wlkp. in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gdynia will play at home against Widzew (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
