There was a minor upset when much higher ranked CASLA (9-6) lost to second ranked Banda Norte (8-6) in Rio Cuarto 72-76 on Sunday. CASLA was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 23-16 charge of Banda Norte, which allowed them to win the game. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Paraguayan forward Jose Fabio (200-77) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Fernando Titarelli (183-82) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Banda Norte players scored in double figures. American forward Jazwin Cowan (203-83, college: Hampton) replied with 26 points and 6 rebounds and forward Joaquin Gamazo (195-91) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for CASLA. Banda Norte maintains second position with 8-6 record having five points less than leader Villa Angela which they share with defeated CASLA. Loser CASLA keeps the second place with six games lost. Banda Norte will face league's leader 9 de Julio in Rio Tercero in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
