Regular Season Round 15: Hokkaido L. - Toyota Alvark 75-89

No shocking result in a game in Saporro where fourth ranked Toyota Alvark (11-7) defeated 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (4-14) 89-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Hokkaido L. was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hokkaido L.'s 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (191-84) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Toyota Alvark's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. They moved-up to third place. Hokkaido L. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round. Hokkaido L. will play on the road against Chiba Jets (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
