Fourteenth-ranked Latina Basket (3-8) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Reggio Calabr. (7-4) in Reggio Calabria on Sunday. Reggio Calabr. managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Latina Basket was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Swedish-American Erik Rush (196-88, college: Montana St.) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American guard Michael Nardi (186-85, college: Villanova) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Four Latina Basket players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Reggio Calabr.. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Treviglio and Recanati. Latina Basket lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Reggio Calabr. will face Matera (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Latina Basket will play against Aget Service IM in Imola and hope to win that game.
