Rather predictable result when second ranked Akita Happinets (16-4) beat at home 5th ranked Shiga L-Stars (11-5) 80-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 46-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Richard Roby (198-85) who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Tyran Walker (213-89, college: Wake Forest) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 19 rebounds and forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Akita Happinets have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-4 record having just three points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the fifth place with five games lost. Akita Happinets will face Takamatsu FA (#6) on the road in the next round.
