Regular Season Round 12: Cieszyn - Pogon RS 84-80

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Cieszyn (2-9) beat at home 8th ranked Pogon RS (4-7) 84-80 on Sunday. Pogon RS was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 29-22 charge of Cieszyn, which allowed them to win the game. Cieszyn outrebounded Pogon RS 39-22 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Tomasz Czajkowski (204-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Lukasz Ochodek (197-82) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Cieszyn players scored in double figures. point guard Patryk Jelen (183-90) replied with 17 points and point guard Pawel Mol (180-87) added 8 points and 9 assists in the effort for Pogon RS. Pogon RS's coach Marcin Cyran rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cieszyn maintains tenth position in Group C with 2-9 record. Pogon RS lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Cieszyn will face higher ranked MCKiS Jaworz. (#3) in Jaworzno in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
