Regular Season Round 9: Mogi das Cruzes - Palmeiras 85-84
Date: December 7, 2014
No shocking result in a game in Mogi das Cruzes where seventh ranked Mogi (4-3) edged 11th ranked Palmeiras (4-5) 85-84 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-17. But Palmeiras won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mogi shot 60.3 percent from the field. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) chipped in 24 points and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was the former international Jhonatan Luz Luz dos Santos (196-87) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Gianella (186-78) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Mogi went down to eighth position due to points difference. Palmeiras lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. Mogi will face Macae (#14) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Palmeiras will play against Liga Sorocaba (#15) and hope to win that game.
