Fifteenth-ranked VL Pesaro (2-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Umana Venezia (8-1). The visitors from Venezia managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were already 14 points ahead at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 34-14 last quarter charge of VL Pesaro cut the lead to 90-89 at the end of the game. Umana Venezia made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) nailed 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Lithuanian swingman Deividas Dulkys (195-88, college: Florida St.) accounted for 16 points. Umana Venezia's coach Carlo Recalcati allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward LaQuinton Ross (203-92, college: Ohio St.) came up with 23 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian guard Bernardo Musso (193-86) added 19 points and 4 steals respectively for VL Pesaro in the defeat. Umana Venezia have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. VL Pesaro at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Umana Venezia will play against league's second-placed Trenkwalder RE in Reggio Emilia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. VL Pesaro will play on the road against Vanoli Cremona (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
