Regular Season Round 15: Tsukuba R. - Chiba Jets 71-84

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. (0-18) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Chiba Jets (9-9) 84-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Chiba Jets. Tsukuba R. was better in second period 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Tsukuba R. outrebounded Chiba Jets 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Kosuke Ishii chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tsukuba R.'s coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chiba Jets maintains fifth place with 9-9 record. Tsukuba R. lost their sixteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 18 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round. Tsukuba R. will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex and hopes to get finally their first victory.
