Regular Season Round 11: Viterbo - Salerno 66-56

Date: December 7, 2014
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Viterbo (4-5) beat at home 9th ranked Salerno (1-8) 66-56 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 34-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Viterbo dominated on the defensive end, holding Salerno to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 23 Salerno turnovers. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Elisa Mancabelli (172-94) contributed with 15 points and 6 steals for the winners. Four Viterbo players scored in double figures. Paraguayan swingman Tamara Insfran (175-89, college: Cumberland) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Giorgia Manfrc (183-92) added 14 points in the effort for Salerno. Salerno's coach Alex Blanco tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Viterbo moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Salerno keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Viterbo will face league's second-placed Bologna on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salerno will play against Castellammare (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
