Regular Season Round 11: Fujitsu RW - Aishin AW 68-42

There was no surprise in Kawasaki where 8th ranked Aishin Wings (3-7) were crushed by second ranked Fujitsu RW (8-2) 68-42 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Aishin Wings managed to win third quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 7 points in first quarter. Fujitsu RW held Aishin Wings to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fujitsu RW made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for international swingman Chinatsu Yamamoto (175-91) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) helped adding 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Fujitsu RW keeps a position of league leader, which they share with JX-Eneos S. and Denso Iris. Loser Aishin Wings keep the eighth place with seven games lost. Fujitsu RW will meet Hitachi Cougars (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aishin Wings will play against Mitsubishi K. in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
