Regular Season Round 9: Samen - Azad 72-89

Superleague top team - Azad (7-1) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they beat seventh ranked Samen (2-6) in Mash'had 89-72. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-72. Azad outrebounded Samen 40-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. International power forward Rouzbeh Arghavan (214-88) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Hamed Hosseinzadeh (187-87) accounted for 17 points and 4 assists. International power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Ali Jamshidi (196-85) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Samen in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azad have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-1 record, which they share with Mahram. Samen lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Azad will meet PMINA Esfahan (#5) on the road in the next round. Samen will play against the league's second-placed Mahram in Tehran and hope to secure a win.
