Regular Season Round 9: Sanaye - Naft Abadan 43-77

Bottom-ranked Sanaye is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fifth ranked Naft Abadan (4-4) 77-43. It looked good early as Sanaye took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Naft Abadan had a 18-9 second period charge getting the lead and Sanaye was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 43-77. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sanaye to just 4 points in third quarter and to 14 points in second half. Naft Abadan dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Sanaye's 24. They outrebounded Sanaye 53-33 including a 40-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. The former international Yonas Lalehzadeh (197-89, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Mehdi Zakizadeh (180-72) who recorded 11 points and Vahid Boroojerdi (-88) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Naft Abadan moved-up to fourth place. Sanaye at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Naft Abadan's next round opponent will be Qazvin (#6) on the road. Sanaye will play against Shahrdari Gorgan and hopes to get finally their first victory.
