Regular Season Round 8: Elitzur Holon - ASA Jerusalem 64-78

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked ASA Jerusalem and 9th ranked Elitzur Holon had identical 2-5 record. But Elitzur Holon was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Jerusalem 78-64 on Monday night. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 14 points. ASA Jerusalem forced 21 Elitzur Holon turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center Marie Malone (191-89, college: Hofstra) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four ASA Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Guard Courtney Clements (183-89, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Sheana Mosch (177-81, college: Duke) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. ASA Jerusalem (3-5) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ramat Hasharon and Hap.Petah Tikva. Elitzur Holon lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. ASA Jerusalem will face Ramat Hasharon (#6) at home in the next round. Elitzur Holon will play against the league's leader Maccabi Ashdod and hope to win that game.
