Very expected game when 13th ranked Elitzur Ramla (1-7) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Ironi Ashkelon (5-3) 105-97 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 65-50 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ironi Ashkelon made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Elitzur Ramla was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and international Raviv Pitshon (201-89) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Ironi Ashkelon players scored in double figures. American forward Billy White (203-89, college: San Diego St.) responded with 31 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ronald Davis (190-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Ashkelon moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ironi Ramat Gan and Netanya. Elitzur Ramla lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will face bottom-ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elitzur Ramla will play against Maccabi Raanana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
