No shocking result in a game when second ranked Chorale de Roanne (9-1) beat at home 7th ranked Le Portel (5-5) 81-76. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-16. But Le Portel won second period 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Chorale de Roanne won last quarter 22-18. They made 26-of-31 charity shots (83.9 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Le Portel helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) fired 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The other American import swingman Torrell Martin (196-85, college: Winthrop) chipped in 11 points. Five Chorale de Roanne players scored in double figures. Chorale de Roanne's coach Frederic Brouillaud allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Naturalized Algerian Mehdi Cheriet (204-87, college: San Diego St.) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Gary Chathuant (193-83) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Chorale de Roanne have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hyeres-Toulon. Le Portel at the other side dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Chorale de Roanne's next round opponent will be league's leader Hyeres-Toulon at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Le Portel will play against Lille Metropole (#12) and hope to win that game.
