Regular Season Round 9: S.Jose/Unimed - Macae 80-79
Date: December 10, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Macae (2-6) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (6-3) 80-79 on Wednesday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Sao Jose/Vinac looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and American guard Andre Laws (188-80, college: San Diego) chipped in 15 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international Marcio Dornelles (196-75) with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Dominican center Otis George (206-82, college: Louisville) scored 17 points. Four Sao Jose/Vinac and five Macae players scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac moved-up to second place, which they share with Vivo/Franca and Minas. Loser Macae dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Sao Jose/Vinac will face Flamengo (#5) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round. Macae will play on the road against Mogi (#8) in Mogi das Cruzes and hope to win that game.
