Regular Season Round 13: Valur - Keflavik 69-81

An interesting game for Keflavik (10-2) which played road game in Reykjavik against 4th placed Valur (7-5). Second ranked Keflavik managed to get a 12-point victory 81-69. Keflavik made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Valur turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Keflavik made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas (175-91, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals. International guard Ingunn Kristinardottir (170-95) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Guard Gudbjorg Sverrisdottir (180-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists (made all of her seven free throws) and the former international center Ragna Brynjarsdottir (188-90) added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Keflavik maintains second place with 10-2 record behind leader Snaefell. Valur at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Keflavik are looking forward to face Grindavik (#5) on the road in the next round. Valur will play against Haukar in Hafnarfjordur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
