Regular Season Round 17: Shanxi Zh. - Fujian QB 128-109

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (11-6) outplayed 16th ranked Fujian (4-13) in Taiyuan 128-109 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Shanxi Zhongyu. Fujian managed to win third quarter 30-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shanxi Zhongyu shot 60.2 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Jeremy Tyler (208-91, college: Louisville) nailed a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) accounted for 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. American point guard John Lucas III (180-82, college: Oklahoma St.) came up with 31 points and 9 assists and international Zhelin Wang (215-94) added 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively for Fujian in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to sixth place. Loser Fujian keeps the sixteenth position with 13 games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will meet at home Foshan (#10) in the next round. Fujian will play against Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) in Urumqi and hope to secure a win.
