Very expected game when 14th ranked TianJin Steel (6-11) lost to ninth ranked Jilin Tigers (10-7) in Changchun 102-117 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Jilin Tigers. TianJin Steel managed to win second period 28-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to TianJin Steel's 58. They outrebounded TianJin Steel 64-40 including a 26-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jilin Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) nailed a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) accounted for 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) came up with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Zhihan Zhang (198-91) added 24 points respectively for TianJin Steel in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jilin Tigers maintains ninth place with 10-7 record. TianJin Steel lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Jilin Tigers will meet bottom-ranked Jiangsu TX (#20) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. TianJin Steel will play against Shandong Bulls (#11) and hope to secure a win.
