Regular Season Round 10: Snaefell - Keflavik 93-88

Date: December 11, 2014
The game in Stykkisholmur was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Keflavik (5-5) played at the court of eighth ranked Snaefell (5-5). Snaefell managed to secure a 5-point victory 93-88 on Thursday. Keflavik trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 28-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 88-93 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Keflavik 46-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. Snaefell looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. The former international forward Throstur Johannsson (198-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Valur Valsson (180-94) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Keflavik. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Keflavik's coach Helgi Jonas Gudfinnsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Snaefell moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Keflavik. Snaefell will face Grindavik (#9) on the road in the next round. Keflavik will play against Haukar (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
